The best long-run park in central Bangkok: a lake loop and a wetland-forest loop that link into 5 km of car-free path.

Start with a lap of the lake, then cross into the forest park that opened on the old tobacco-factory land: boardwalks, ponds and wide paths with water taps every few hundred meters. Jon's usual weekend long run is two lake laps and four forest laps.

02Go at the right time

03Start here

South entrance, near QSNCC

Come up at MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) and walk north into the park. The lake loop starts at the south end of the lake.

    Where the loops meet 1.9 km

    Turn left and north to start the forest loop; carry straight on for another lap of the lake.

    Into the wetland 2.5 km

    The path turns west along the ponds; the elevated boardwalk runs above you here.

  3. 3

    South-west corner 4.1 km

    The loop turns back east. MRT Khlong Toei is a few minutes south if you are finishing here.

06Local etiquette

  • Stop for the anthem at 8:00 and 18:00.
  • Keep to the running path; bikes have their own lane (15 km/h).
  • Run clubs meet at Gate 3 and the north car park; give groups room.
